Full Name: Emiko Abe A bubbly and eccentric character, Emiko was born in 1975 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Japanese immigrants to Canada. Raised in the quiet and simple life of the Canadian prairies, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Emiko regularly found ways to entertain herself and her 3 siblings by putting on mini-productions in their house, on the street, at church and anywhere there were people who'd pay attention to her. Always pushing the envelope when it came to rules and the "way things are supposed to be" from the very beginning, Emiko struck out on her own at the age of 17. With her young son in tow, she began her dynamic career in the arts, which ranged from acting and dancing, to modelling and directing. After a few years, it was evident that a career in the arts was not conducive to raising a family so she returned to school to major in Computer Science. In 1997, once completing her education, Emiko moved the family west to Vancouver, British Columbia. Here, she settled the family and established herself in the software industry. Until one day, her 10 year old son sat her down and had a talking to with her. He explained with his growing social agenda that she needed a life, and that perhaps a hobby or a boyfriend would help fill the gap. With those words of wisdom, Emiko returned to the arts scene, this time focused primarily on acting. Since then Emiko's career has flourished. She continues to work in independent film and theatre (her first true love) and is branching into film and television roles. Her latest credits are in the episodic series' The Dead Zone and The 4400. When off stage and screen, Emiko is busy as a mom and a in her day job. She enjoys snowboarding, playing poker, knitting and travelling on a whim. |
